Honzan Ryuchizan Daiun-in

Daiun-in is an independent temple belonging to the Jodo Shu (Pure Land Sect) of Buddhism. It is located at the foot of Higashiyama and has a history spanning over 430 years. The origin of the temple is traced back to 1587 (the 15th year of the Tensho Period). Emperor Ogimachi granted Oike Imperial Palace (Karasuma Nijo) to the founding priest, Teian Shonin, and ordered him to pray for the souls of Oda Nobunaga and his son Nobutada.
